A story on a little boy of tharu community.

Once upon time in a town of terai region of Nepal, there was a king called HARISH CHANDRA THARU of Tharu community. He was very rich in property and loves his people very much. One day he invited all the citizens of his town for RAJABHOG (palace party)and treats to his people by distributing rice, maize, wheat, chewra, vegetables and fruits. He delivered the graceful speech for the well fare of his citizens. Among them there was a poor old girl(unmarried) named MASUSAHI BHUDIA of Tharu community, she works in the palace. She was selected to work for rice making mill by The king Harish Chandra Tharu. She felt bad for this type of work because she was alone and no one for her support. So, she remembered the GOD for help. At that time the GOD gave her a dream that he will come in her dream. She was afraid about it. So, she went to neighbor home for shelter.

        After mid night the GOD came to meet the MASUSHAI BHUDIA but he was unable to meet her and he returned back to his place and left some water on the vegetable called KENARI KA SAAG(CABBAGE). When she wake up in the morning then she went to bring the cabbage to prepare curry. After some months she became pregnant. After a month, she gave a birth to a child(boy).The boy was very healthy and smart. As the days passed, he became a young child. He used to go with neighbor children to play and for entertainment. The neighbor children used to ask him about Who was your father ? But unfortunately he could not answer. He used to ask about his father to his mother but she was unable to answer. So, one day she told to her son that his father was sun(bariyaoh). So, her son decided to meet his father, for that he took permission from his mother and he departed from home to meet sun (father) suggested by his mother.One the way he meet with different people at different situtations. Among them he meet with a women (widow) and she told him

Women: Where are you going?

Boy: I am going to meet my father i.e sun.
Women: Ok, if sun is your father then he is a GOD, so she said told him to reduce her trouble in her daily life.

Boy: ok, I will inform my father about it.After some dialogue, he went towards his destination. He tied a rope and counted as one message that should be told to sun. On the way he meet with a horse.

Horse: Where are you going boy?

Boy: I am going to meet my father.

Horse: The horse was suffering from stomach pain, so the horse told him to make him relief from this pain to the sun.

Boy: Ok, I will inform this message to the sun ( regarded as a GOD).In this way he meet different people and animals on the way. After few days he reached to his destination i.e sun. He meet with the sun.

Sun: Why did you come here?

Boy: I came here to meet my father as my mother suggestion.

Sun: Who is your father?

Boy: You are my father as my mother told me.

Sun: Are you a son of MASUASHAI BHUDIA?

Boy: Yes, I want to inform you that I meet different people and animals on the way. So, they gave me some message to you, then he told about widow and horse.

Sun: They are suffering from different trouble due to their own work. That was the reflect of their own bad works. He said if you do good job for the well fare to the people then they will never get trouble in their life.

Boy: Ok, I will told them when I will return from back to my home.
Sun: How did you manage your long journey to meet me. It’s really difficult.

Boy: My destination is to meet you. So, I walked towards my destination without hesitation because my dream is to meet you and now I was success to meet you.

Sun: You made me happy. So, I will give you a name JEETBAHAN that means SUCCESS. From today, the KALIYUG people will celebrate the success story about you, the women will take a bratha and worship to your success story. They will worship mahalaxmi in this festival and they will listen to your success story about you in that festival called JEETIYA.

Boy: I am very happy as he meet his father and got name JEETBAHAN.

JEETBAHAN: He told thank you father and he returned to his home and he convey the messages to the people. IT is a story of SUCCESS(JEETBAHAN).In this occasion the THARU people of Nepal are celebrating the JEETIYA festival. This festival tharu women take a bratha for one day/night with water and fruits only. They worship to the mahalaxmi devi for their future and prosper life. Detail about this festival in next post.

DEVCHULI temple is one of the main temple of tharu communitiy of Nepal which is located at Pragatinagar, Devchuli municipality, Nawalparasi district of Nepal. It is located at the top of northern mountain from terai region of Nawalparasi,Nepal. Thousands of people from Nepal and SAARC countries visit this place. This temple is located at the beautiful scenarios of hill and mountains, So, people visit this place for cultural aspects as well as for their adventure hiking to the mountains. Hiking for the temple area is really an adventure and loving to the nature. The scene from the area of devchuli temple to the terai region is amazing. View from devchuli temple area    The tharu, magar, brahamn and other communities of Nepal visit this temple area. Specially during Ram Naw ami festival, thousand of people visit this temple for their future and prosper life. An introduction to Tharu community in Nepal

The Tharu community lives in terai region of Nepal from eastern to western part of the Nepal. They covers almost 22 districts of Nepal. They are very rich in traditional cultural which can attract millions of tourist to visit their villages to know and get entertained with their culture.
